Where has the time went. It is March 28, 2023. It has been two years since I last posted here. I have been busy taking lots of photos and video in the past two years. I sold all my Canon DSLR camera gear and purchased new Canon mirrorless camera bodies and lenses. It has been a super steep learning curve but good to have challenges to stretch us. I now use the Canon R7 and Canon R5 camera bodies. I have numerous lenses but use the RF100-500 and RF800 lenses the most. I have been doing more photography outside of my car pushing a walker on bumpy dirt and gravel paths. I have two mobility scooters but putting the ramp on the back of my car is just too difficult for me. I am considering purchasing a car where I can have an inside lift but really love driving my 2016 Honda Pilot Elite. Both my daughters and grandchildren all live very far away. I try to visit each 1-2 times per year. They come to visit me also. I still believe Life is meant to be Lived to the fullest today like there is no tomorrow. As we age, health issues can get in the way of doing all we want to do but with the right attitude and motivation you will be amazed at what you can accomplish when you set your mind to it. I have had to overcome many obstacles in my adult life and hope my photos and writings encourage you to get outdoors and enjoy life while you still can.
It has been over a year of lockdowns due to Coronavirus. The younger kids are starting back to school half days.
I bought a new Canon EOS R5 mirrorless camera a few months ago. I have been spending a lot of time learning about all the custom settings. It takes beautiful images.
I updated my Egret and Heron Bird gallery the other day with a Reddish Egret at Bolsa Chica.
I bought a new Canon RF 15-35 f/2.8 lens today. After I went to Boaton Market and this elderly man told me Togo before him. I insisted he go first. Well, he ended up paying the cashier for my ribs and chicken dinner. I had never had that happen before. I found out he is a Pastor of a church in Oakland. I pray God blesses him abundantly.
If you have the opportunity to bless someone do it!!! It will make their day so much brighter.
Aug 10, 2020 - The Coronavirus pandemic is still causing our entire state of California to be shut down. Kids can't even go to school or play on playground equipment. They don't even get Coronavirus but they are being told they can give it to their grandma and grandpa. The election is in Nov. Hoping we can vote in person vs mail in ballots which will be riddled with fraud.
Back to photography. I took a trip down to San Diego to bring my grandson home with his new computer. I was able to take a few photos. No sunset images unfortunately. I want to get out more but seem to be focusing on going through old images and backing them up to my Drobo Drive. Drobo Drive is awesome for storing large amounts of data. Life is going well. Physically I am wiped every day, still have vertigo daily but can drive. I hope to get back to posting on my website again soon.
UPDATE: April 10, 2020 - Due to the World Wide Pandemic called Coronavirus COVID-19 and a lot of time on my hands since we are on a Stay at Home order by Governor Newsom under President Trumps recommendation, I found myself editing this page after a long absence. The Coronavirus Stay at Home mandate has been going on for three weeks. It is devastating to see the loss of lives but it looks like staying at home is saving many lives. We have done very well in California compared to New York and several other states.
Social Media seems to be where people prefer to go to learn about each other but I will make an attempt to do more than just store my images on my website going forward. I hope you find my photography and writing to be encouraging. It is Good Friday today! The entire United States is not allowed to attend church this year due to Social Distancing so we will be watching it online. Due to health reasons I have been watching church Live online for the past two years anyways so it won't feel any different. What will feel different is cooking dinner for just me on Easter Sunday. I am sure I am not the only one dining alone on Resurrection Sunday. Enjoy browsing my galleries and feel free to leave a comment in the Guest Book or individual photo gallery. Have a Happy Easter!
Where has time gone :) I think Facebook has eaten up my time and taken my focus off my website but it has been great to stay connected with old and new friends. My youngest daughter got married in June. It was a beautiful wedding and everything went great. I got to spend 13 days with my grandson Ryan who is such a sweet boy. He was a trooper hanging out with me and my photography friends on his first day with me. I gave him my old camera and he took 300 photos that day. He got his first bird with a crawdad in its mouth photo. That was exciting for us both. Then we went to a lake and fished. He caught 8 bluegill and was hooked on fishing just like his grandma. My health continues to give me challenges but I just keep pressing on knowing God will get me through each new problem. Getting old isn't fun but if we keep the right attitude we can have joy as we live our best years of our lives with kids married and grandkids arriving.
Well, I finally got out of the house this week and took a few photos. I am still recovering from two surgeries in 10 days and hope to get some energy back soon. I am scheduled for another surgery in Dec. I hope this is the last one for a while. I posted some new photos in animals, birds and sunset galleries. I am the editor of a monthly newsletter for Diablo Valley Camera Club. You can view my articles at http://diablovalleycameraclub.wordpress.com/2012/10/18/1093/
It's been three weeks since the first of my two surgeries. Being housebound for almost a month during the most beautiful time of the year was really difficult but it allowed me time to draw closer to God. I have been having fun photographing hummingbirds in my backyard in the past few days. I went with my photography group to Rush Ranch. It was my first time out shooting in a month. Photos can be seen in Travel under Rush Ranch. Also, check out my hummingbirds under Birds and then Field and Forest Birds.
Where has my time went. I have been some photography the past few months but I am very behind in editing and posting to my website. I did upload a few sandhill crane photos from last week. I am writing a newsletter article about them for my camera club.
I've had a lot of deaths lately from family members to neightbors to my own dog who I had to put my dog to sleep the other day. That is one of the hardest things I have ever done. I am now officially an empty nester. No kids or animals living at home.
I spent a very chilly day in San Francisco shooting America's Cup World Series Sailing race today. I will be creating a gallery soon under events. I won't be taking photos for a while due to multiple surgeries to hopefully improve my quality of life a bit.
It's been a long time since I competed in my camera club so I was a bit nervous to hear what the judge had to say. Well, he loved every photo I submitted. I won two first place awards, an honorable mention and Image of the Night for a travel photo taken in Huntington Beach. You can view the image in travel/orange county.
Spent a few days in the beautiful Lake Tahoe area. I loved going off-road and finding little lakes in the middle of no where. Photos can be seen in Travel/Lake Tahoe gallery.
